Ahead of its October 2 launch, Ghost of Yotei developer Sucker Punch Productions releases patch notes for the extensive Day One update. Sucker Punch’s latest game is now right around the corner and fans can now get a glimpse at all the major changes and improvements being applied to Ghost of Yotei when it releases.
There’s clearly a lot of excitement surrounding this upcoming Sony exclusive as Ghost of Yotei has already reached the top of the PlayStation pre-order charts. The game itself serves as a spiritual successor to Ghost of Tsushima, taking place over 300 years after the events of the first game. Taking place in Ezo, players are taken on a tale of revenge through the protagonist Atsu, who seeks vengeance against a group called the Yotei Six, who are responsible for the death of her family.
While Ghost of Yotei is set for a global launch on October 2, Sucker Punch is giving players a heads-up on what they can expect on day one. Namely, players will be required to download a major launch update, which features numerous fixes and important improvements. The update contains many performance and stability improvements, fixes to potential crashes, alongside many UX and gameplay-related adjustments.
While Ghost of Tsushima set a standard for Photo Modes, Yotei is taking things even further before the game launches by adding more content in this patch, including stamps and effects like birds that are native to the Hokkaido region. By all accounts, Sony and Sucker Punch are positioning this to be a very important patch for players to download. While digital players will see the update automatically applied, physical edition owners will need to make sure that the update installs after the game has been added.
Updates aren’t the only post-launch plans Sucker Punch has for the game. The popular Legends mode is returning to Ghost of Yotei next year, adding two-player story missions as well as the 4-player co-op survival modes as well in a free update. Sucker Punch revealed a few other details as well, including Legends featuring four character classes battling against a variety of new enemies and massive, demonic versions of the Yotei Six.
