Just like the game it takes inspiration from (Vampire Survivors), Megabonk has a lot of different characters to choose from, but besides two of them, they will have to be unlocked through various means. Some of the unlock requirements are more straightforward than others, but if you want to play as Monke, you will need to find and release him in the Forest map, the first level of Megabonk.
Megabonk players will also get the Monke achievement once the character is unlocked.
How to Find Monke in Megabonk and Open His Cage (Golden Key)
The two requirements to unlock Monke in Megabonk are to find and release him in the Forest and to buy the Bananarang weapon. To start, you will eventually find the Bananarang item during your run, and once you unlock it, you will need to purchase it from the Unlock section in the menu.
Once you do that, you will need to find a Golden Key during your run in the Forest. From what we’ve seen, the key has a small chance of spawning randomly on the ground. Once you run over it, it’ll be added to your inventory, and you can now free Monke from his cage.
The hard part is that Monke will not be shown on the map, so once you have the key in hand, you will just need to quickly run, jump, and slide around the Forest until you find it. Just know that the cage is quite small, so it’s not going to be easy to find it immediately. It’s worth noting that the cage may not appear on the map every time.
You can head back to the unlock screen in the main menu and purchase Monke for 18 coins after the requirements have been met.
What Does Monke Do in Megabonk?
Monke will start their runs with the Bananarang weapon, which acts like a boomerang, returning to you after being thrown. You can also climb walls with Monke and will gain extra max HP for every level up in Megabonk.
